About

When I was newly postpartum with my first child, I was introduced to the word “empath” by a therapist that I saw for postpartum anxiety. Shortly after, I learned about the term “highly sensitive person.”

When I started researching more about what these terms meant, I felt so validated. But, even more than that, it felt like my eyes were opened to exactly how much work it had been my whole life to try and ignore these parts of my identity that were so core to who I really am. Parts that felt inconvenient and not really accepted or embraced in the world/culture we live in.

And while I don’t feel fully aligned with every aspect of either label, they did gift me a language and vocabulary that helped me define my lived experience as someone who is deep-feeling and emotionally intuitive. Suddenly all of my present-day struggles made so much more sense.

That awareness coupled with my educational background in psychotherapy, yoga, meditation, embodiment, and interpersonal work allowed me to clearly see a path forward in how to navigate not only my own struggles– but the struggles of all the clients I would soon work with.

4 years later and Root Collective was born as an evolution from my private psychotherapy practice. It’s my third baby and I am so excited to watch it grow.

About Me

I am a licensed psychotherapist (PC013788) with a graduate degree in Mental Health Counseling and an undergraduate degree in Psychology.

I chose to pursue a 200-hour yoga teacher certification in 2016 as a complement to my degree and I believe so deeply in the mind + body connection.

I have done additional training in trauma-informed therapy, the neurobiology of stress and trauma, mindfulness, and somatic (body) based therapy.

Overall, I just feel really blessed that my passion is my career and that I get to do what I love every day. I hope we get to know each other in some way!
